Lizzie and Her Make-up!

If there is one thing that this little girl likes to do it's put on make-up! For the last few days it has been part of her daily routine. I just love these pictures. What a crack up!Little Diva!

Star Valley Trip with Dad and Gloria

Yep, that's my dad riding in the Tetons.

There is Gloria too. These guys were the best sports. They rode old mountain bikes that we found at David's grandparent's cabin.
We hiked to the big rock from String Lake. David always has to climb the girls to the top and scare the heck out of me. What will I do when they want to climb the Grand one day?

Here we are in front of the beautiful Tetons.

Me and the girls waded in String Lake.

London was lost in the story of The Little Mermaid the whole time. (She usually is in some other world. We're used to it.)

Depeche Mode Concert

David and I went to Depeche Mode with Alex, Robert, and Shawn in Salt Lake in August. We ate at this really yummy place called Pei Wei. They had lettuce wraps and honey chicken, Mongolian beef, etc. I highly recommend it. Oh, and the concert was good too.

Twit-twoo!!!

Here is the wild crew. (Yeah, real wild!)

There they are in all their glory.

Summer Bee Stings!!! Ouch!!!

Boy the bees were mean this summer.

Here is a nice close-up of when the bee smacked me in the lip while I was riding my bike. My other two stings came on my bike as well. One came on the ankle and the other on my forehead. Blast those bees!

The Mortensen Family Disneyland Vacation

We stayed at the Excalibur hotel to split up the long travel time. The girls were so excited to stay in a castle.
I ordered David a Cherry Coke at the bar in the casino. He had me take his picture. When I was about to snap it the lady bartender yelled out, "No, no you can't take a picture of a minor at the bar!" Awesome!
Thank heavens for DVD players
We woke up in Vegas and by the afternoon we were in Disneyland.
TomSawyer's Island
The one and only Mickey Mouse!
Lizzie's favorite princess, Jasmine.
We spent a couple of days at Sea World in San Diego.
We were not supposed to remove the starfish from the tide pool but ya know.
David's lucky day-steamed crab.
Pacific beach in San Diego.
The girls liked the beach as much as they did Disneyland.
Sun-bathing beauties!

We totally wore these little ones out every day.
California Adventure

London's favorite princess, Cinderella. We found her in a building with various animation activities. We got to talk to Crush the sea turtle from Nemo. He singled out London both times we went to see him to Lizzie's utter horror. We also went into a room were a Disney worker walked us through how to sketch a character. We drew Piglet and Daisey Duck. It was one of London's favorite things about our trip.
California Adventure Theme Park during the day (above) and at night (below).
We had a super fun trip and hope to go again soon!

Hike to the Wind Caves and Stuff

This week we had some fun adventures. On Wednesday we took the girls to Lagoon. London's favorite ride was the Merry-go-round. Lizzie's favorite ride was the Puff kid roller coaster. David loves the Sky ride. And I enjoyed laughing my head off on the Scrambler as London and Lizzie squished me to the side. Yesterday (Saturday) morning David and I had plans for a 30 mile bike ride, but ended up on the same course as an official fund-raising bike ride for MS. We drafted off a group of cyclists and ended up going 47 miles instead. Then last night we hiked as a family up to the Wind Cave, or as some people call it, the Witches Castle.
We forgot to bring our camera, so a nice couple took some with theirs and emailed them to us.

This is a view looking out toward Logan Canyon. We decided that both girls are much better hikers when they are paired off, one with Mom and the other with Dad. Unfortunately, they do great with Dad and horrible with Mom. I think that I have "whine for me and I will carry you" written all over my face. Dang it!

On the weekend of June 12-14 we went to Wyoming. On Saturday David, Brent and I went on a shivery bike ride around Star Valley, passing the darlingly weird Al Pacas. Later we headed to the Tetons and hiked up to the Phelp's Lake overlook with Grandma and Grandpa. (My favorite lake at the Tetons) We ate a picnic at the top and even met a new friend who we shared our lunch with.
London and Grandma at the overlook.

This is the shot where nobody made a face. (Phew-that's hard to pull off)
The first of us to make it to our destination. After our hike Brent, Margaret, and I rode our bikes from a little North of Taggart Lake parking lot to Jenny Lake. We planned to do a round trip but got pelted by the rain and quickly changed plans.
We stayed at the Star Valley cabin over the weekend. Poor Daisy stayed there all day while we did our hike.
Sunday was Lizzie's actual birthday, but we planned the party for the next day. Grandma made her a cake out of chocolate Zingers with straw candles and torn Swedish fish for the flames-delish!

Lizzie's Birthday (Four years old!)

Lizzie Jane Mortensen turned four on June 14, 2009. The following day we had this family Birthday party. The guests were Grandma and Grandpa Hirschi, Grandma Margaret, Grandpa Brent, Uncle Alex, cousin Taggart, and of course us. We had a Lizzie quiz where people had to guess her favorite movie, color animal, outfit, candy, thing to do, game, song, place, food, boyfriend, cake, type of dance, and holiday. We had video recorded of her telling the answers.

Cousin Taggart (boyfriend) helped Lizzie blow out her candles.
